Today I still think that the lives of many people will have evolved

Then, there will be more smiles drawn on other faces.

More luminosities in their eyes
More freedom
Fewer worries
Fewer illnesses that will kill many people
Less poverty
More equality of gender
More acceptance.

Me, you, us. I think all of us.

You are beautiful the way you are, and that makes you the most beautiful person on this planet.

I like the idea of discovering spots in Hong Kong that I’ve never been.

Hong Kong is wonderful the way it is.

I wish I could live forever in this magical country.

Somehow I feel that I belong in this place.

I am an adventurous.

I like the idea of discovering spots in Hong Kong that I’ve never been.

Hong Kong is a labyrinth full of little treasures.

It is a pleasure to be here.

That’s why I am an adventurous on this story.

I love the idea of taking pictures to capture the good momentums.

I love the idea of keeping memories.

I keep these remembrances on my storehouse of memory.

I like to keep them with me. I found them beautiful.

Hey angel. What does beauty mean to you?

Hey angel,

It’s me again, Julia. I hope you are doing great! If you are new… Welcome on board! Pleased to meet you. Thank you for reading Beyondjuliaswords. I hope this is the kind of themes that you enjoy reading.

Your beauty should not be defined just for your physical appearance. “We are” like a book cover. Strangers only see the outside which is a tiny representation of us. They will never know the way we are unless they get to know the person.

There two different types of people. The ones that look beautiful physically but they can be arrogant. On the other hand, there are people who don’t pretty physically but they have an excellent heart. What I am trying to say throuhg this post is that your beauty should be more defined for your personality than your physical appearance.

If someone’ personality is outstanding. Then, they will win more hearts than who don’t. The main purpose of this post is not to compare and contrast two extreme identities. Basically, it is to make understand the society that beauty has to do more for the way you are as a person than just about your physical traits.

Have a wonderful rest of the day! I hope to see around, and stay as long as you like!

The meaning of hands’ gestures

Hey angel,

Thank you for passing by. it is wonderful to see you again, and I hope you are doing great! Stay as long as you like. You are more than welcome to stay.

Back in High School time. I made one of the projects based on the ways people express their emotions through hands’ gestures. For me, It was a very interesting topic, and I have enjoyed doing research, and I come up with an idea of sharing it with you.

For me, in order to create a successful project, I have been observing the ways people express their emotions through hands. Besides the observations, I have been interrogating them to understand in depth my project. Some of the major questions were “What do you think about your hands” “would you be able to live without your hands?

Could you guess what was the most common reply to these questions?
“I won’t be able to live without my hands because I haven’t the faintest idea of the way I could express myself” It was shocking because it tells me that they will give up, and it is quite sad to think about it. Putting this aside, have you ever question to yourself “Which hands’ gestures might be offensive in some countries?”. For example, in Thailand touching other people’s heads or pointing to someone with an open hand are seen as bad manners so pay attention to it or get some knowledge before going to a country. It is always good to be aware of it.

In order to create my pieces of art, I have been influenced by different places around the world and people such as my friends and some family members. In addition, I was inspired by well-known artists like Henry Moore ( 1898-1986) who created a series of artworks called “The Artist’s Hand, 1979” when he created these artworks he was going through a rough time. He used to say “Hands can convey so much” “They can beg or refuse, take or give, be open or clenched, show content or anxiety. They can be young or old, beautiful or deformed”. When Henry created his pieces he has had a fascination for hands, he felt that he could express himself. Me ( Julia ) as an artist of this project I am not considered a person who has a fascination for hands but I like to see the way people express their emotions. I believe that people’s hands play an important role in our daily lifestyle. For instance, humans’ hands help us to manipulate things, communicate emotions verbally and through our body language. Some of the common actions some people do are biting their nails, this might show they are nervous or stress. Perhaps, this action is transformed into a new habit for them. Sometimes, it becomes a struggle to stop doing it.

One of my artwork was a photo of a couple which resemblance love. The fact that one of them wear a ring is already indicating to my audiences they married. I believe that love can be expressed in many varieties of ways. It can be transmitted through a relationship with your partner ( girlfriend/boyfriend ), friendship, love between a mother towards his child or vice versa. Basically, to any family member. Including material things like tattoos.

A random story

Again, an icy dawn on this distant planet, a desolately cold and uninhabited planet. There is no form of life, no trees, no animals, no people, only immense footprints covered by ice and that hides in each of us a desperately longed for desire and that perhaps illuminates our hope of finding a source of survival. Winding mounds such as we have never seen in our existence and sculpted mountains that evoke our imagination to the idea that perhaps one day there was life here as well. There was an intense and painful cold, every breath seems to get stuck in our lungs with such as an intensity that we thought we will die, it hurt us until our own breath. Only one thought keeps us on track, there is no turning back, our lives depend on this planet, on this dilated but beautiful and nearby moon that threatens the great white man sculpted in the mountain, but that sends us enough energy to continue. The moon was as bright as a million fireflies around us. We have been walking for two months in the middle of nowhere, in absolute silence, it envelops everything.

At first, the silence was sweet, intoxicating, almost hypnotizing. Today after sixty days the silence has become black and full of despair, our efforts are not bearing fruit, just seeing that mountain in the form of man controlling an inhuman being illuminates our day with a perhaps….this mountain is extremely different from the others, there was not only a human figure but it was in motion, in a gesture to control a terrifying being. The human being with angry and pleasant expression at the same time had perhaps achieved his goal. The crystal floor under our tired feet reflects our bodies covered by the special suits thanks to which we manage to survive in these extreme conditions, but these crystalline floors also reflect our smaller backpacks showing us that every day is more critical to all of us. We all come from the earth, from different parts of the world on that wonderful planet, now this planet is destroyed by the sun.

November 5, 2013

We have traveled in a ship prepared to preserve a small group of humans from that destruction and start from scratch on another planet. We have been traveling for a year now, we have been using our resources in the best way possible, however, our body mass has been reduced by thirty-five percent. We had begun to rationalize our food by trying to help us to resist until we found the right place to build our base. This planet is ours, it’s our last choice. The components of the settlement are nineteen people. There are a variety of ethnicities such as white, Asian, and African. There are unmarried people and young people who tried to survive in this isolated place after the catastrophe of the planet Earth.

Part II: To what extent is traditional methods of teaching relevant to the 21st century in Hong Kong and Spain ?

Perspective A

Oxford dictionary defines rote learning as “the process of learning something by repeating it until you remember it rather than by understanding the meaning of it” . In rote learning there are several advantages. The teaching style is teacher driven rather than being led by the students’ questions. During the class students are more passive in learning due to the teaching style, the teacher feeds learners with information which requires to think and understand less. This type of learning gives quick results and it is tested by immediate assessments. According to the book called “Improve Exam Results: Tested Technique for Passing Exams or Tests By Dr. Subhash Thaker affirms that “ rote learning can be observed in preparing quickly for exams, a technique which may be colloquially referred to as “cramming”. An example is when a someone is required to learn the script for a play when it must be performed, this type of learning is more likely that the brain does not keep the information for long term-memory because the topic which the student is learning is not connected with meaningful and real life situations. A second great example of this knowledge is when a student need to memorise the multiplication and periodic table in order to remember the sequences and the symbols.

Rote learning is based on a traditional style, and goes back to the original behaviourist theory which is learned through operant and classical conditions. For example, in primary education the teachers gives rewards to those students who behave correctly, this means respect between each other, raising the hands when someone wants to talk, being quiet in class, etc. Sometimes, teachers also use conditioning to punish their students through positive and negative reinforcements. A students environment plays a big role influencing on their learnt behaviour this is an example of traditional education in Spain.

Perspective B:

According to Dictionary.com inquiry learning is defined as “the act of inquiring or of seeking information by questioning; interrogation.” It helps the students to be part of their own learning. Also, it is helping the students to develop their critical thinking and increase their creativity. Inquiry allows the students to learn subjects or topics in depth on the environment where the learners can feel comfortable to share ideas. When the topics are related to real life situation this encourage and motivated students to be more interested in a topic which it makes the learning much more easier. In order to make the students think, teachers ask specific questions such as “What do you know about…? “What questions do you have about…” “What would you like to learn more about? Why? (Wilson & Win Jan, 2009).

Students are more likely to retain information if it is learnt through taking ownership after their own learning, they develop a sense of responsibility and curiosity based on research of a topic. Students learn best when the issue is meaningful, this means that it is related to their experiences and it is more fun to learn. Also, inquiry allows collaboration to the students which is teamwork. Collaboration is important on inquiry based learning because students can teach and learn from others through communication, and it “Helps develop deeper understanding of subjects” (Youthlearn, 2017). In the 21st Century learners, teachers build toward student-driven inquiry by helping their students to solve problems by expanding their questions with a series of classes.Students expand four main generic skills like research, thinking, analysis, and social skills. This style of teaching empower students to ask questions, clarify different issues, values and attitudes through their understanding.Teachers are aware that each student has an individual learning styles depending on their needs, abilities, values. During the learning teachers try to keep students interested on the task so they are motivate to do work. Also, teachers are flexible of the students’ interests (not everyone interest is the same). In addition, teachers challenge their students to get a better understanding by exploring a range of perspectives and the world such as culture, technology, music, etc.

Part 1: To what extent is traditional methods of teaching relevant to the 21st century in Hong Kong and Spain ?

According to Dictionary. com education is defined as “ the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.” In order to develop students learning teachers drive the process of education through literacy, mathematics, science, history, and arts. In this investigation there is a focus on two main pedagogies which one is a traditional method such as rote learning and the other is inquiry based. The aim of this investigation is to understand the two teaching methodologies by comparing and contrasting each perspective. This has been investigated through research and work experience through a variety of educational setting.

Overall, this project was to recognise the importance of both teaching styles based in Spain and Hong Kong, and how they changed within the 21st century preparing students for the 21st century world. Traditional teaching is still relevant to our current time as a stepping stone to inquiry based learning. With basic knowledge taught, rote teaching provides students with background information to develop their critical thinking skill through inquiry.

Ethical Issue

The introduction of technology in the 21st century has advanced education in many ways such as communication, teaching and learning. Today’s society focus on creativity, problem solving, innovation, cultural awareness, exploration, leadership, etc. These are the necessary skills to prepare students in the future. According to the video by EF Education first (international education) 46% of teachers say their homework requires technology, and 94% of students say they use technology to do homework”.

In order for students to success in future learnings, schools should provide academic studies at higher education using the 21st century key subjects like government and civics, arts, economics, mathematics, international languages ( eg. English ), health and science. This way, it will prepare students for complex life and work environments nowadays and future lifestyles. In addition, students must be able to gain access to quick changes in technology by using literacy such as media, ICT, and information. It is essential for students to be focus on 4 creativity, and critical thinking, communication for future careers to be open and repons to new and variety of perspectives, and understand the limits of real globe by adopting new concepts. In 2002 there were several jobs that didn’t even exist yet, for example social media strategist, Elder care Coordinator, telework manager, app developers etc.

Preparing students for the 21st century means to move forward along with the advantages of technology. Therefore, the world of education won’t fall behind. Teachers in the 21st are required to plays a lot of roles for instance they need to be a mentor, motivators, and help the students to connect real life situation for problem solving. Technology in the 21st century is influencing education drastically. Both traditional school and inquiry based schools are developing their curriculum as the advancement of technology continues. As 21st century learners students should be encouraged to develop creativity, think critically and know how to use technology efficiently as new jobs continue to come up in the future.

This issue has an ethical concern because not all students have the same opportunity. IB/ Inquiry based curriculum are usually at private schools, which require a certain socioeconomic level of students. Therefore, not all students have the same opportunities.

Students benefit from having balance between inquiry and route learning. eliminating rote learning and only using inquiry based learning in the 21st century in relation to the ethical dimensions of teaching methods, by not catering to all students learning needs. On the other hand, removing inquiry based learning deprives students from developing problem solving skills, thinking, and creativity.

Cher. Believe ( My reply to you )

No matter how hard I try

You keep pushing me aside and I can’t break through

There’s no talking to you

It’s so sad that you’re leaving

It takes time to believe it

Cher, It does matter.

I am sorry for kept pushing you.

Suddenly, why is this occurring?

It may be. I have my reasons.

Everything takes time. It should not be a surprise.

But after all is said and done

You’re gonna be the lonely one, oh

Do you believe in life after love? (after love, after love, after love)

I can feel something inside me say

I really don’t think you’re strong enough, no

Do you believe in life after love? (after love, after love, after love)

What did I say it?

Why? How am I supposed to be?

Yes, Definitely! And you?

How can you say this to me? I believe,  I am strong enough to go through anything.

Yes, Definitely! And you?

I can feel something inside me say

I really don’t think you’re strong enough, no

What am I supposed to do?

Sit around and wait for you – well, I can’t do that

And there’s no turning back

Try to be more positive. It will not help you a negative mindset.

Whatever you felt like doing

I am already here. How can I help you?

Why not?

I need time to move on

I need love to feel strong

‘Cause I’ve had time to think it through

And maybe I’m too good for you, oh

Then, move on if that make you happier

Everyone needs that. It is normal.

Perhaps, we didn’t mean to meet.

Being adopted is great.

Having this opportunity is a privilege as not all kids have the same luck as you did. Therefore, if you are adopted. Then, be grateful for that.
Thanks to your adopted parents even though all of you are fighting, that should not stop you for telling this sentence to them. It the end, they will be by your side if you need anything or you are struggling with an issue. If you have only a mother or a father. Then, it is okay. She or he is going to be by your side too.

Why boy?

Why boy?

Why are you not playing instead of working?

Why are you not smiling instead of working?

Why are you behaving like an adult instead like a kid?

Why are you not laughing instead of being serious?

Why don’t you have the same opportunities like me?

Como conocía a Iñaki Alegria

Conocí a Iñaki en una fiesta de los etíopes. También, conocido como Somhabesha. Som mean we in catalan and Habesha mean Ethiopians in Amharic which is the official language of Abyssinia.

“Tsehay has been reborn.”- El último Cooperante ( Por un mundo de igual a igual, Iñaki Alegria Coll.)

“Tsahay ha vuelto a nacer. — Has resucitado a Tsahay– me dice la madre–, estaba muerta y a vuelto a nacer.” – El último Cooperante ( Por un mundo de igual a igual, Iñaki Alegria Coll.)

Has vuelto a nacer dijo tu madre,

It’s a great book!

A story in every car?

                          How come?

In every car, there is a story.
In every bus there is a story to tell, in every book, there is or are more than two stories to tell.
A person is like a book.
You see the physical appearance but few people have the opportunity to get to know the person…
if you see it this way…
this is the same as a story in each car.
We see the car,
we can appreciate the color, the size, and the shape.

Quote: “It’s like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.”__Patrick Rothfuss

Barcelona has so much light

To much light was coming out from the left side
It was brilliantly golden
I was pondering just for a couple of minutes.
If Barcelona was trying to proliferate me any one thing painstaking.
My unconscious thoughts were not attentive

Again, I asked myself,

What was that?

Was that tiny energy transformed into something hefty?

something glorious might appear.
It is difficult to exactly explain it,
to really see the magic behind every chapter,
every word is written,

A petite description which tells a mini story.

At least two or three scrawls should stay there,

to have a few lines to start a petite description.
A petite description which tells a mini story.
Let’s try just a little bit.
